Last month, we heard that E3’s organiser the Electonic Software Association (ESA) had plans for a digital-focused show, though a live or hybrid event had not been ruled out. Now, documentation dug up by ResetEra (thanks, Twinfinite) lists the show as a “cancelled live event”, though with a potential license to return in 2022 and 2023. The show’s production team may use E3’s home at the Los Angeles Convention Centre and its next-door LA Live area for broadcast, the document concludes....

During her keynote speech at DICE 2022, Miele lamented the state the industry is currently in. “Let’s face it, there have been some rough headlines,” Miele said (via IGN). “Stories about negligence and lawsuits, all stemming from leaders who failed to uphold standards we’ve come to expect… Women have been harassed, bullied, marginalised, held back in their careers, paid less, and much, much less”. “These are real stories, real human beings, and this is going on in companies in our industry… We have to have fair and safe work environments, at the very least....

That’s the eye-watering amount EA made during its 2021 financial year from Ultimate Team modes across its sports games. But - and this won’t come as a surprise to anyone - FIFA Ultimate Team made the bulk of that money. Or, as EA recently put it in a regulatory financial document, “a substantial portion”. FromSoftware made no mention of the change in any of its patch notes, but changes to a specific cutscene have been shared on reddit. Minor spoilers follow. The changes concern the cutscene before the battle against Morgott, the Omen King found in Leyndell, Royal Capital. Originally the boss would light his sword ablaze, but this effect has now been removed. Why the change? That’s unclear. On the one hand, some fans on reddit believe the change is intentional....

You’ll first hear of the Glintstone Key from Sorcerer Thops when you first arrive at the Lakes, and both the key - and the Academy seal it unlocks - are found within the same region. Returning to him later with a second Glintstone Key also concludes the Thops quest....

The previous update to the game added a bug where the already notoriously tricky boss was made more difficult by self-healing when joined by a summoned player in multiplayer. Now she’s back to her usual (still tricky) self, along with a couple of other fixes. Firstly, the Elden Beast boss has been fixed after a bug that prevented it from “working properly under certain circumstances”. Secondly, the effect duration of the Cerulean Hidden Tear has been fixed after it was accidentally revised downward in a previous update....

Earlier in the week, Rising Hope’s all-female Valorant team and head coach Jehiel quit after a sexual harassment claim was raised regarding another coach, named Simons. In a Twitlonger statement, Jehiel detailed how Simons would regularly threaten to reveal his genitals despite frequent requests not to. “It may be an internal joke to them or something but since I am a coach of female players, I found it inappropriate,” Jehiel said....

Technology manufacturers will now be required to use USB-C charging ports in all smartphones and tablets sold in the region from 2024, and in laptops from 2026. Nintendo finally confirmed Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom’s name and a release date: 12th May 2023 - plus new details on what to expect from Link’s next adventure, which will apparently take him “to the vast lands of Hyrule… up into the skies and [into] an expanded world that goes beyond that.” Originally confirmed to Eurogamer by Shigeru Miyamoto in 2015, Nintendo finally gave us an official first teaser for Pikmin 4....

The long and short of it is you can buy and sell on the transfer market, build and edit your squads, manage your club and more, from the comfort of your own home (and definitely not from work, of course....

QuakeCon itself is set to kick off at 6pm UK time on 18th August, whilst the Redfall-flavoured reveal will run for 30 minutes from 6.15pm and “takes you inside [Arkane’s] upcoming squad-based vampire shooter with new insights, gameplay details and more!” Other games set to feature in the presentation include The Elder Scrolls Online, Fallout 76, Fallout 4, Ghostwire: Tokyo, Deathloop, and Quake, of course. In preparation towards a three-day concert available 6th to 8th August, new quests are starting to emerge under the Rift Tour premise. This one in particular asks you to interact with the Rift Tour posters scattered across five key locations in the battle royale map. Completing this challenge won’t reward you with XP to help you unlock more Battle Stars for the Season 7 battle pass. Instead, you will receive a unique Rift Tour themed spray for your collection....

Such as the past few weeks, the first quest in this set involves using one of the payphones across the Fortnite map, and it’s followed with the tasks to catch fish at fishing holes, collect a vintage can of at food in Catty Corner or Craggy Cliffs and collect a vase of flowers from Lazy Lake. Fortunately this is a rather straightforward challenge with multiple spots to choose from. As it’s been the norm lately, you will only need to grab one vase of flowers....

With the new Fortnite season there is also a new Battle Pass to work through. As usual, there are big name characters like Spider-Gwen, as well as a bunch of original Fortnite characters. Completing this challenge will reward you with some XP, which will help you climb through the ranks of the Season 3 Battle Pass and unlock the new skins.
