According to Steam Charts, yesterday Valheim hit a milestone of 502,387 concurrent players, putting it up there with some pretty massive games. Only four other titles have ever achieved a concurrent peak of over 500k: PUBG, CS:GO, Dota 2 and Cyberpunk 2077. That means Valheim has achieved a higher player peak than Terraria, Fallout 4 and Among Us (although it’s worth noting that many of these games released on several platforms - Among Us was hugely popular on mobile, pushing it to an overall peak of 1....

Described by developer Digital Extremes as Warframe’s “biggest narrative expansion…so far”, The New War - which was initially teased all the way back in 2018 - tells the story of a massive Sentient invasion over the course of three acts, taking players across 16 planets and three open worlds, including previously unseen environments. It’s an adventure that unfolds from the perspective of multiple playable characters - including a Grineer Lancer called Kahl-175, Corpus engineer Veso, and Conclave Master Teshin - and promises to combine a “personal story of self-discovery with an action-packed space opera”....

Revealed by way of a recent developer livestream and then via the game’s social media channels, Angels of the Zariman is said to be a “direct follow-up” to The New War, although the Digital Extremes team stopped short of revealing when, exactly, the new content will release, beyond confirming it’ll be “coming soon” as part of the Warframe 31.5 update. At first it was direct to one of several Stations across the map - with several high level gear chests for your trouble - but in Season 5, it now leads you to a mysterious corridor, with a choice of many doors to take....

That’s exactly what YouTuber Flurdeh has done. Using camera tools by Frans Bouma, they’ve used a tilt shift lens and isometric view to create a video of the Lands Between from above (thanks PC Gamer). Though not a full mod, it somewhat reimagines the game as a CRPG, Miyazaki’s bleak world becoming adorable little dioramas with tiny model enemies shuffling around. Giant golems become miniature tabletop figurines; church ruins look like they’re made from Lego bricks; dragons look more like pets; and trees in the foreground are blurred to emphasise the perspective change....

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers have been able to stream Game Pass games from the cloud for a while, of course. Today simply adds the ability to do so from the app rather than via a browser.
