Jack loves Candy and if you give him some, including Lollipops, he will give you a variety of rewards, including new DIY recipes for the Spooky furniture set. Your villagers will also be out trick or treating and, if you give them Candy, they also have some rewards in store for you. If you don’t - well, the trick isn’t that bad… On this page: When you find him, stop and have a chat. He’ll want you to become his minion and collect Lollipops from the other villagers, which you can give to him in exchange for special Halloween rewards. Jack will teach you the Haunt reaction and, in exchange for a piece of Candy, he’ll give you the clothing item, Jack’s Face. We found that it took three to four tries with different villagers to gain each of the Lollipops, though, depending on your luck, you might receive one earlier. Once you’ve been given a Lollipop, head back to Jack and exchange it for a reward. For the first Lollipop, he’ll give you a Spooky Carriage and then, for the second, he’ll give you the DIY recipe for this piece of furniture. After giving him a third Lollipop, you’ll receive the DIY recipe for the Spooky Wand. The fourth and final Lollipop will result in him giving you the clothing item, Jack’s robe. You can continue to give Jack any Lollipops you find after this and, in return, he’ll either give you multiple copies of Jack’s Robe and pumpkins. You can purchase one piece of Candy every day from Nook’s Cranny for 120 Bells every day in the month of October, including Halloween. If you’re running low, however, then it’s time to do some trick or treating yourself. A number of your villagers will be hanging out in their homes, so go and give them a visit. Once there, they will give you a piece of Candy and, after roughly ten minutes, they’ll be ready to give you some more. There is a way, however, to collect unlimited Candy. All you have to do is wear both Jack’s Face and Jack’s Robe to trick your villagers into thinking you’re the Czar of Halloween himself. They will realise it’s you, but that won’t stop them from giving you Candy every time you talk to them. This works on both the villagers inside and outside of their homes and is a great way to stock up on Candy for next year’s Halloween. When one of these villagers sees you, they will run up to grab your attention. You don’t have to talk to them if you don’t want to, but, if you don’t, you won’t be able to take part in their trick or treating. Talking to the villager will allow you to pick between trick or treat. Picking the trick option will cause the villager to change your eye colour, body paint and place a unique piece of face paint on your body. The face paint you’re given will be randomly selected from a number of options and can be removed by opening the clothes option in your inventory just like a regular piece of clothing. You can change your eye colour and body paint back by using a vanity or mirror to open the character customisation screen. Thankfully, the villager will give you a Wooden Table Mirror the first time you pick ‘Trick’, so you don’t have to return home to change your character back. The ‘Treat’ option, however, will allow you to exchange a piece of Candy for a reward. This includes pumpkins of various colours, certain Spooky items and any Spooky furniture DIY recipes you might be missing from your collection. Giving a villager a piece of Candy is also the only way to receive the Spooky Rug, Spooky Flooring and Spooky Wall, so, if you want to complete the Spooky furniture set, make sure you select ‘Treat’! The first villager you give a treat to will also teach you the Scare reaction. All you have to do to reset the trick and treating villagers is enter and leave any of the buildings on your island. Throughout October and on Halloween itself, you can purchase a number of special Halloween costume items from the Able Sisters. These costume items include:

Animal nose Flashy animal costume Flashy point-ear animal hat Flashy round-ear animal hat Impish horns Knee high socks Mage’s boots Mage’s dress Mage’s striped hat Magic academy hood Magic academy robe

When Kicks visits your island in October, he might be selling a pair of Impish Wings, which you can also wear as part of your Halloween costume. Finally, you can purchase a number of new eye colours and body paint with your Nook Miles from the Nook Stop in Residential Services. The event itself will start at 5pm and run until midnight. During this time, you’ll be able to meet the pumpkin headed Jack and do some trick or treating with your villagers. You’ll also be given the chance to collect the final DIY recipes for the Spooky furniture set. The Animal Crossing 2.0 update and Happy Home Paradise is here! We can help you with the new additions - including where to find Brewster, Gyroids, new villagers, ordinances, new fences, storage shed, new hairstyles, Froggy Chair, group stretching and Kapp’n boat tours. Cooking is now unlockable, so you need to know how to make both flour and sugar, as well as how to grow carrots, potatoes and tomatoes. Meanwhile, if you’re new to Animal Crossing, our New Horizons tips can help with the basics. From the off, there’s fish and bugs to catch, flowers and fruit to grow with. One long term goal is building your Happy Home Academy score. Finally, you need tools such as the new ladder and vaulting pole to fully explore. You can now use the Spooky Treats Basket, Spooky Tree and Spooky Trick Lamp to truly bring the spirit of Halloween to your island! To do this make sure your Nintendo Switch is connected to the Internet and then try to start playing New Horizons. If there’s a patch available, you’ll be prompted to do so. Now simply follow the instructions on your Nintendo Switch and wait for the download to be complete. With that done you can enjoy the Halloween events as they gradually occur throughout October.
